I'll make it the first effect to be implemented when I start v2 of the
file format then.

This is a good point, but monotone supports sound devices other than the
PC Speaker (not yet, but adding them will be trivial when I hook the XT
back up again). So *limiting* monotone to the speaker would do the rest
of the devices a disservice. Why this slight change in making sure
other devices are supported? Because I've gotten about 10 emails asking
when it will be released because "I'm working on embedded device
so-and-so" or "I am programming a microcontroller and need something to
make simple music in" etc. and all of these devices are multi-channel.
As for PT-compatible, it's the same reason I had to make MTCONFIG --
because no one person I talked to could agree on what they wanted :-)
Interface *and* commands were split almost 50/50 between PT/FT2 and
ST3/IT. Choosing one over the other satisfies 50% of the people.
Choosing MY OWN over either of those satisfies 0% of the people...
It is possible to build two translation tables so that PT effects
display/enter as ST3 effects, but that is very low on my to-do list at
the moment.

I can do that, sure. I think nobody will want to remap "enter" so as
you suggested I'll use that.
